Stannum Medical Centre has moved to a Mixed-Billing Practice from Monday the 26th of September
Why did you change to mixed billing?

Unfortunately, the amount set by the Government for a consultation is insufficient to cover the costs incurred by a medical practice. The Australian Medical Association (AMA) recommends a rate of $84 for a consultation less than 20 minutes. The government currently pays only $39.75 for this consultation. However, the cost of running a practice has continued to rise causing us to transit from bulk billing to mixed billing.

What is mixed billing?

Some patients will be required to pay a gap payment (out-of -pocket payment) of $30 for a GP consultation. This will be in addition to the fixed amount paid by
Medicare.

What are the exemptions?

Some patients will still be bulk billed. Those are but not limited to;
-
Children Under 16
-
Pensioners
-
DVA card holders
-
Covid-19 Vaccinations
-
Concession card holders

What is the Gap fee amount?

All NEW patients will be charged a $30 gap fee (out-of -pocket fee). This will be applicable to all appointments during weekdays and weekends 8.00am-9.00pm.

How do we charge?

You can pay via cash, credit card, debit cards or EFTOPS.
